Emergency Shelter Provides emergency shelter for boys and youth identifying as boys, ages 14-17 years. Serves eight boys at a time with maximum stay of 120 days. Offers support and guidance to plan next steps. Transitional Housing Provides transitional living program for young adults of any gender, ages 18-23 years. Serves six young adults for up to two years. Also offers two emergency beds for young adults.

Provides older adults with a hot, nutritious lunch and a chance to play bingo. Takes place weekly at the Barrington Park District.

Provides monthly financial aid for township residents in need. Helps pay towards rent, utilities, or medical expenses. Intended for individuals who meet one of the following criteria:

• Cannot work due to medical condition
• Experiencing income or job loss due to circumstances outside of their control. Must be actively seeking employment.
• Have applied for government assistance and are waiting for approval

Offers a social rehabilitation program for adults with mental illness. Focuses on improving the individuals ability to care for themselves and function independently. Provides case management, skill-building groups, individual exercises, and support in community settings. Supports overall wellness including nutrition, physical fitness, and addiction recovery. Seeks to improve the following:

• Interpersonal communication
• Health maintenance
• Symptom regulation
• Peer interactions
• Self-regulating behavior
• Problem solving skills
• Self care and hygiene
• Use of public transportation
• Money management
• Cooking

Note: Independence Center operates as a membership program. Membership requires that the individual has a persistent mental illness and Medicaid insurance to cover all fees. Members are encouraged to attend programs on a daily basis and contribute to the IC community.

Offers affordable housing for low-income veterans and their families. Housing options include apartments, rental housing, and lease-to-own single-family homes.

Provides assistance finding healthcare resources for immigrants living in Illinois. Offers assistance by phone and online for the following:

• Healthcare options for immigrants and refugees
• Search portal to find health clinics for immigrants and refugees
• Information on hospital financial assistance programs for uninsured
• Immigrant-friendly mental health service providers

Provides free legal advice on civil legal issues, such as: Housing: Eviction, Foreclosure, Unsafe Conditions, Discrimination Public Benefits: Social Security, SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid Safety: Orders of Protection, Custody, Other Family Issues Stability: Expungement, License Reinstatement, Employment Issues

Mobile pantry that distributes free diapers and hygiene products. Offers free diapers, pull-ups, and wipes (if available) to families with children under the age of 4. Limit of two visits per month to receive supplies. Also offers incontinence supplies for seniors and individuals with a disability or special needs.

Provides complete care to children from birth to age 18. Services include: Developmental assessments Hearing and dental screening Basic vision testing Immunizations Lead testing

Places children who have experienced neglect and/or abuse in a safe home. Other services include:

• Counseling services for children, foster parents, and birth parents
• Children advocacy in court
• 24 hour crisis interventions
• Foster home monitoring
• Referrals for birth parents to get help for issues that prevent them from being with their children

Provides temporary shelter, support and follow up for kids, ages 11-17, who have run away, been locked out, or who are at risk of such. Our crisis workers are on call, 24/7.

Offers education and career development for Lake County youth ages 16-24. Participants receive a stipend while earning a high school diploma. Provides college and career readiness training, and the following supportive services:

• Mental health and substance abuse counseling
• Food, shelter, and transportation assistance
• Childcare assistance
• Legal aid
• Financial management assistance

Also offers the Pre-Apprenticeship program for young adults who already have a high school diploma. Participants earn a stipend while receiving job training for a career in the construction industry.
