Operates four housing units with space for 45 residents. Note: Independence Center operates as a membership program. Membership requires that the individual has a persistent mental illness and Medicaid insurance to cover all fees. Members are encouraged to attend programs on a daily basis and contribute to the IC community.

Participants have an opportunity to win a refurbished laptop after completing course.

Offers the following transportation services for Waukegan Township seniors: Weekday Medical Transportation Provides curb to curb transportation for medical appointments within the township. Rides must be requested in advance. Shuttle runs weekdays only and is equipped with a wheelchair lift. Weekend Transportation Provides curb to curb transportation on weekends for travel within 10 miles. Rides must be requested in advance. Walking aids must be able to fold down for storage. Transit Card Issues a debit card to be used for personal transportation services. Funds can be used for any type of transportation service including taxis and ride shares.

• Transportation for medical appointments (within Lake Forest and Lake Bluff only)
• Medical Equipment Lending Closet (loans medical equipment for up to three months to residents of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff)

Provides monthly financial assistance to help Township residents in need. Helps pay towards rent/mortgage, utilities, or medical expenses. Provides temporary aide while individual finds a job or waits for benefits approval.

Provides weekly sessions to help applicants prepare for U.S. citizenship interview and test. Also offers application assistance.

Provides intensive outpatient treatment for individuals with substance use addiction. Provides individualized treatment plan to achieve long-term recovery. Services include assessments, individual and group therapy, and drivers license reinstatement. Also offers court-ordered services for DUI offenders.

Mobile outreach truck that provides services for people struggling with drug addiction. Services include:

• Safe Use Supplies - distributes naloxone, safe injection, smoking kits, and snorting kits
• Needle Exchange - allows individuals to exchange used needles for sterile ones
• Peer Support - Peer Recovery Specialists always travel as part of the outreach team
• Treatment Navigation - connects individuals with resources for jobs, housing, legal assistance, social service registration, etc. Provides transportation to appointments when available.
• Snacks and personal care items
• Printed resources - informational materials with recovery resources
