Individuals who do not meet residency requirements for this location will be referred to their nearest site.

Offers supportive services to help single mothers become self-sufficient. Services include:

• Parenting classes

• GED/ESL assistance
• Help finding childcare and transportation
• Spiritual encouragement and biblical instruction

Provides age-appropriate after school and summer activities for Lake County youth ages 5-18 years. Programming includes a snack, hot dinner, and homework help. Also offers the following:

Receives, investigates, and enforces fair housing laws when discrimination is reported. Also educates members of the public about their rights in housing and how to exercise them. Provides training to landlords, property managers, and realtors. Also advocates for creating more equitable and inclusive communities.

Offers door-to-door transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Priority is given to non-emergency medical appointments, but may also be used for errands. Vans include a wheelchair lift. Also offers assistance with RTA applications for seniors and individuals with disabilities. RTA passes allows seniors and individuals with disabilities to receive discounted transportation rates.

Provides parenting coaching to improve skills based on an individual's culture and beliefs. Offers both individual and group settings.

Offers a social rehabilitation program for adults with mental illness. Focuses on improving the individuals ability to care for themselves and function independently. Provides case management, skill-building groups, individual exercises, and support in community settings. Supports overall wellness including nutrition, physical fitness, and addiction recovery. Seeks to improve the following:

Note: Independence Center operates as a membership program. Membership requires that the individual has a persistent mental illness and Medicaid insurance to cover all fees. Members are encouraged to attend programs on a daily basis and contribute to the IC community.
