Application process
During daytime service hours individuals must call the program phone, or visit one of the following designated locations only:
- Fox Lake American Legion Post 703 (Marine Unit)
- Lake County Sheriff's Office Highway Patrol
- Lake County Sheriff's Office
- For walk-in service, a deputy will coordinate an immediate intake and screening with the Lake County Health Department. Individuals experiencing an acute withdrawal will be assisted.
- For calls, a deputy will provide an escort for any individuals who cannot transport themselves. Individuals will immediately begin intake.

- No fees for A Way Out; fees for addiction treatment services vary
- No one will be turned away due to inability to pay
Service area

Provides drug users a fast-track to addiction treatment services. Allows individuals to call or walk-in to Lake County Sheriff's Offices to request help. Individuals may surrender any drugs or paraphernalia without risk of criminal charges. A deputy will immediately coordinate phone screening with the Lake County Health Department. Based on the evaluation, individual will begin outpatient or inpatient treatment. Provides a police escort for any individuals who cannot transport themselves.
