  • Be disabled under the Federal Social Security Act
  • Own or have a legal or equitable interest in the property
  • Have lived on the property on or before January 1of the tax year

Call for assistance, or visit website to apply using the Smart File portal Documents Required:
  • Photo ID
  • Proof of residence
  • Copy of Illinois Disabled Person Identification Card (PDF); or
  • Proof of Social Security Administration Social Security Benefits (Award letter, verification letter, or annual cost of living adjustment); or
  • Proof of Veterans Administration disability benefits; or
  • Proof of Railroad or Civil Service disability benefits
